On Tuesday August 26th, after a difficult battle with cancer, French in Normandy said good-bye to our kind and courageous Director, Mr. Tom Maitland.
Tom’s dear wife, Eleri, would like to thank all their friends around the globe for their kindness and support. Please do not send flowers, instead please consider celebrating Tom’s life with a donation to French in Normandy’s favourite charity, Heart Children’s Home in Kenya.
Tom and Eleri have known Julia Steiner for years and Julia has been on the Management Board of Heart Children’s Home in Malindi, Kenya, since 2008. Julia visits Heart regularly and keeps her eye on the financial situation for the Home. Things have got really difficult for them since the tourists have stopped visiting Kenya. Heart is desperate for aid and they have several projects:
1. To dig a borehole so they have water for their farmland.
2. To educate the children so that they will not have to go back on the streets when they have to leave the Home.
3. To build their own Home because the rented building is about to be put up for sale.
